It has been a month since Hurricane Katrina did its almost incalculable damage to the Gulf Coast and the Florida Panhandle—and to the lives of so many people. Please join me in extending thoughts and prayers to everyone who has been affected, including our more than 2,100 members who live in Alabama, Louisiana, and Mississippi. We mourn the lives that were lost while admiring the courage that residents showed in the face of this disaster. Although the storm has passed, most survivors have been evacuated, water is being pumped out, and the cleanup and rebuilding are proceeding, Katrina’s after-effects will be felt for a long time to come.
