      The ever-increasing advancements in technology that keep the average person more connected than ever—and feeling busier than ever —have contributed to a shift in consumer communication preferences. More individuals today indicate a preference for cell phones and text messaging over communication via landline telephone, and, as of 2014, four in 10 US households have cell phones only, a rate that has doubled since 2009.
